General class information
Participants should wear phys ed clothing (shorts and a t-shirt, please note: pant legs that touch the floor are not acceptable).
Bare feet or gymnastics shoes only—no socks or tights.
Hair should be tied back and kept off the face.
What will participants learn in class?
In the Arabesque Rhythmics After-School program, our emphasis is on FUN and FITNESS. Participants will build physical literacy - specifically fitness, strength, flexibility and hand-eye coordination - while working with music. Participants will also learn to work in a large group (in different formations, exchanging apparatus). Throughout the session, participants will learn and improve their skills through fun-filled activities, games and choreographed sequences.
The After-School program focuses primarily on the first two levels of Long-Term Athlete Development program (LTAD):
- Active Start: learning fundamental movements (running, jumping, twisting, kicking, throwing, catching) and link them together into play.
- FUNdamentals Stage: learn fundamental movement skills and build overall motor skills by focusing on the ABCs of athleticism—agility, balance, coordination and speed.
